Jamie Wise, CFA

President & Chief Executive Officer

Prior to launching Periscope Capital in 2009, Mr. Wise was a managing director at Moore Capital Advisors Canada, a multi-strategy Canadian-focused hedge fund. Prior to Moore Capital, Mr. Wise was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at BMO Capital Markets where he led an internal proprietary trading group. At BMO, Mr. Wise was appointed the youngest Managing Director in the firm’s history. Mr. Wise has an undergraduate business degree (hons.), graduating first in his class from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 1998 and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.


Stephen Elgee, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Stephen Elgee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s investment and trading activities. A founding partner of the firm, Mr. Elgee previously spent 20 years at BMO Capital Markets, where he served as Executive Managing Director of BMO’s Equity Derivatives department. During his time at BMO, Mr. Elgee was exposed to all aspects of the equity derivatives business including proprietary trading, sales, marketing, origination and structuring while overseeing the firm’s Canadian index arbitrage and North American equity options businesses. Mr. Elgee is a past Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC) and of the Toronto Futures Exchange. He is also a past member of CDCC’s Risk Management Advisory Committee, the Bourse de Montreal Inc.’s Board of Directors, the Ontario Securities Commission Commodity Futures Advisory Board, the Ontario government appointed Commodity Futures Act Review Committee and the S&P/TSX Index Advisory Panel. Mr. Elgee graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science degree and holds a CFA designation.


Mike Galbraith, CFA

Chief Operating Officer

Mike Galbraith joined Periscope Capital in 2011 and is responsible for overseeing all operations and technology related matters at the firm. As part of his duties, Mr. Galbraith oversees all fund operations activities, manages the operations and development teams, and plays a lead role in advancing Periscope’s technological capabilities. Mr. Galbraith is also actively involved in the firm’s financial and regulatory reporting, provides oversight of the fund valuation process, and works closely with the investment team to provide analysis and reporting. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Galbraith worked with the Prime Brokerage Group at Scotia Capital. Mr. Galbraith earned an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CFA charterholder. Mr. Galbraith has also completed the Canadian Securities Course and Trader Training Course.


Grace Lim, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Lim is responsible for overseeing all financial functions at Periscope Capital. Ms. Lim spent over sixteen years as a senior manager in the financial services industry practice at Ernst & Young LLP, providing audit and advisory services to financial services clients including banks, trust companies, insurance companies, pension funds and mutual funds. Prior to joining Periscope in 2012, Ms. Lim was with Mapleridge Capital Corporation, a quantitative systematic alternative investment manager, where she was responsible for external and internal financial reporting including financial statements, regulatory compliance and tax filings. Ms. Lim is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant (Top 10 Finalist in Ontario) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.


Lisa Shostack

General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

Lisa Shostack is responsible for overseeing all legal and compliance functions at Periscope Capital. Prior to joining Periscope Capital, Lisa held roles as general counsel and chief compliance officer at Turtle Creek Asset Management Inc., an investment management firm focussed on investing in the public equity markets, and The Carlyle Group’s subsidiary, Diversified Global Asset Management Corporation, a fund-of-funds and hedge fund asset manager, where she managed the legal and compliance group and was part of the firm’s Operating Committee. From 2006 to 2008, Lisa was Vice President, Legal at Dominion Bond Rating Service where she focussed on traditional asset securitization. Lisa previously practiced corporate law with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP from 1999 through 2006, with an emphasis on financial services, securitizations and private M&A. Lisa received her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University.


Louise Pitt Brindle, GCB.D

Chief Risk Officer

Louise joined Periscope in 2024 as the Chief Risk Officer, is the Chair of the firm’s Risk Committee and reports directly to the CEO. She brings over 25 years of experience in fixed income and equity markets and has a demonstrated track record of differentiated content generation, thought leadership and superior client relationship development and management to her role at Periscope. Areas of subject matter expertise include global fixed income, public and private credit, financial institutions’ strategy, financial accounting, ESG and sustainability investing, and capital allocation across alternative asset and traditional investment strategies. Louise spent 17 years at Goldman Sachs in London and New York, where she was a Managing Director since 2005 and held roles in the Global Investment Research and Securities divisions. After 15 years in New York with GS, Louise and her family decided to move to Canada where she was Principal and Head of Credit Research at RPIA as well as a member of the firm’s Executive, Investment and Risk Committees.

Louise believes strongly in diversity, inclusion, belonging, mentorship and recruiting initiatives within the finance sector and is committed to paying it forward. She is an Independent Trustee of the MA Specialty Credit Income Fund in the US and is a member of the Sub-Committee of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Louise also recently completed the GCB Sustainability and ESG Designation from Competent Boards.


Stephen Church

Lead Portfolio Manager

Stephen Church is a Portfolio Manager with a focus on the SPAC investment strategy. Prior to joining Periscope Stephen spent over twenty years at BMO Capital Markets working within debt and equity capital markets, proprietary trading, and serving as a Managing Director overseeing the BMO’s Canadian convertible debenture and preferred share trading businesses. Prior to that, Stephen ran an internal proprietary trading business focused on capital structure and convertible bond arbitrage in the US market. Stephen began his career with BMO in investment banking working with both equity and debt capital markets groups on structuring and issuing various security types including corporate bonds, convertible bonds, preferred shares, income trusts and closed-end funds, amongst others. Stephen has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from Queen’s University and a Masters in Finance (graduated with Distinction) from London Business School.


Mike Wang, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Mike Wang joined Periscope Capital in 2011 and is responsible for managing the Canadian convertible debenture strategy and developing and utilizing proprietary models for research and trading. Mr. Wang also develops portfolio construction solutions relating to the firm’s machine learning and artificial intelligence models. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Wang completed co-op work terms in the Alternative Execution Group at TD Securities and as a Prime Brokerage Associate at BMO Capital Markets. Mr. Wang earned a joint Honours Bachelor of Mathematics from University of Waterloo and Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) from Wilfrid Laurier University. Mr. Wang is a CFA charterholder and has also completed the Canadian Securities Course and Trader Training Course.


Christine McNerney, CFA

Associate Portfolio Manager & Lead Credit Analyst

Christine McNerney joined Periscope Capital in 2012 and is currently an Associate Portfolio Manager with a focus on the SPAC strategy. In addition, Ms. McNerney is responsible for performing credit and quantitative analysis across the firm’s Canadian and U.S. fixed income holdings. Prior to joining Periscope, Ms. McNerney worked as a Senior Credit Analyst within the Canadian Public Fixed Income group at Manulife Financial and as a Rotational Analyst within the Manulife Investment Division Rotation Program. Ms. McNerney earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Distinction) from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder. Ms. McNerney has also completed the Fixed Income Trading and Sales course and the Trader Training Course.


Robert Visca

Associate Portfolio Manager

Robert Visca joined Periscope Capital in 2021 and is currently an Associate Portfolio Manager for the SPAC investment strategy. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Visca worked in the Private Equity Group at Fengate Asset Management, focusing on mid market, growth-oriented opportunities. Mr. Visca was responsible for deal execution and monitoring of the group’s investments. Mr. Visca earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the Ted Rogers School of Management, with a focus on Finance, Strategy and Entrepreneurship. Mr. Visca is currently working towards the CFA designation.


Ellen Yang

Senior Analyst

Ellen Yang joined Periscope Capital in 2018 and is responsible for assisting with a variety of activities across the firm, including portfolio reporting and analysis, trade operations, compliance and financial reporting, and the software development process. Prior to joining Periscope, Ms. Yang completed co-op work terms at TD Securities with the structured notes desk and at Fidelity Investments in a corporate finance role. Ms. Yang earned a joint Honours Bachelor of Mathematics (Distinction) from University of Waterloo and Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ms. Yang is currently working towards the CFA designation.


Joseph Clarke

Investment Analyst

Joseph Clarke joined Periscope Capital as an Investment Analyst in 2020. Mr. Clarke supports the firm in several areas including trade settlements, financial reporting, portfolio analysis, and compliance. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Clarke completed co-op work terms with SLC Management as an investment analyst and with the Ontario government as a research analyst. Mr. Clarke earned an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration (Distinction) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2020 and has also completed the Canadian Securities Course. Mr. Clarke is currently working towards the CFA designation.


Salman Mughal

Operations & Investor Services Associate

Salman Mughal joined Periscope Capital in 2021 as an Operations & Investor Services Associate. Mr. Mughal’s primary responsibilities focus on investor services while supporting compliance and trade operations activities. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Mughal spent three years as an Operations Associate at a recognized Canadian alternative investment manager. Mr. Mughal earned a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Finance (Distinction) from York University in 2017 and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.


Adam Perruzza

Associate

Adam Perruzza joined Periscope Capital as an Associate in 2022. Mr. Perruzza is responsible for assisting with various operations, finance and compliance matters at the firm. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Perruzza spent a year and a half as an Investment Specialist at BMO Investorline. Mr. Perruzza earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Finance from Dalhousie University Cooperative program in 2021 and has completed the Canadian Securities Course and Derivatives Fundamentals and Options Licensing Course.


Tommy Giblin

Research Associate

Tommy Giblin joined Periscope Capital in 2023 and is responsible for the research and development of proprietary models used in strategy development. Mr. Giblin previously interned as an Investment Analyst with Periscope in 2022, with a focus on the SPAC investment strategy. Mr. Giblin has earned a Master in Quantitative Finance and a Honours Bachelor of Mathematics (Distinction) from the University of Waterloo. Mr. Giblin’s research for his thesis focused on the impact of social media sentiment on stock price movements and option implied volatility. Mr. Giblin has passed all three levels of the CFA Program.


Mikhail Lebedzeu

Director of Technology & Engineering

Mikhail Lebedzeu joined Periscope Capital in 2015 and is responsible for leading technology and software engineering initiatives at the firm. Mr. Lebedzeu is actively involved in all aspects of the software development process and plays a lead role in the design and implementation of Periscope’s internal software applications. In addition, Mr. Lebedzeu is responsible for overseeing the firm’s cloud computing pipelines and managing the firm’s cloud and on premises IT infrastructure. Mr. Lebedzeu graduated from Western University with an Honours Specialization in Computer Science and has continued his professional development in recent years focusing on advancements in cloud technologies.


Kailo Ando

Software Developer

Kailo Ando joined Periscope Capital as a Software Developer in 2022. Mr. Ando plays an important role in developing and supporting the firm’s software applications and architecture, including automating and streamlining operational, regulatory, and investment management processes for the firm. Prior to joining Periscope, Mr. Ando graduated from University of Toronto with an Honours Specialization in Computer Science.
